here comes a fresh, new week. are you ready?

Hey friend,

Like many, does Monday feel heavy for you? I never thought I struggled with the “Sunday Scaries.” I wasn’t afraid of Monday. I wasn’t in fear of what a new week would bring.

But I was a raging ball of stress, running around the house in a frantic panic every Monday morning. Exhausted before dinner, which always leads to choosing unhealthy meal options, forgetting to drink any water because the day requires full caffeination, and staying up late to make up for the time I lost while stuck in decision paralysis…

No, I never had the Sunday Scaries… But I was dissociating and distracting myself from preparing for the new week ahead, which is just as bad.

A few years back I got into a routine of planning ahead. (honestly, when you find a planner that works for you, that you’re consistently excited to use, this becomes easier).

I started carving out a small portion of my Sunday evenings for a calm planning practice. I started meal planning, and deciding which day I’ll need to get groceries. I started coordinating my phone calendar, screenshots from events I didn’t want to agree to but also might want to attend, and double checking with the calendars and commitments of the rest of the family so I would always be where I needed to be. I started putting everything into my daily planner on Sunday night.

This simple practice made every Monday morning that much easier. I started to see Mondays as a fresh opportunity, a clean slate, a restart button on whatever habits I was working on.

Sunday doesn’t have to give you the “scaries”, because Monday isn’t coming to hurt you.
